A brief comment on my sculpture and installations: they tend to be more humourous and politically pointed than the paintings. This may have something to do with me wanting to be direct in addressing socially charged issues and simply finding it easier to manipulate three dimensional objects (and photographs) to this end. It may also have something to do with the act of painting, which for me, is often a process of observing light on form. The process of painting itself seems to send me in a more metaphysical direction. Nevertheless and whatever the reasons, I know that I often enjoy using humour in order to cope with the gravity of politically charged subjects.
