From the Capitals and Columns series.
This drawing helped us determine the cars for ‘Apparat’. The year before we built the sculpture, we were home in Canada and needed to figure out which cars to use for the installation. There was a fair bit of back & forth communication with Tollwood Project Coordinator Bianca Schmitz in consideration of available cars. Bianca sent us pictures of several cars. After getting the year & model information of available cars Helene and I toured around car lots in Vancouver to measure car bodies in order to figure out how they would fit together. We ended up requesting a BMW, an Audi, a VW & a Mercedes.
